I'm on the Depo shot, but for the past about 3 days I've been spotting and it's been dark brown almost black, exept the first day it started out like normal. I was just wondering if this is okay that it is this color, or if it is just another side effect of the depo.

The spotting is normal.

However, I would seriously consider rethinking the depo shot.

I was on it for FOUR years and it royally screwed my body up.

I gained weight, I was a witch two weeks before my next shot was due, I spotted at inoppurtune times. You never knew when it was going to come up!

After FIVE years you need a bone density check, that's how much depo screws up your system.

Yes it is normal to have a dark brown discharge. But go get checked anyway because before I started the shot I had dark brown discharges and the cause was a bladder infection then a urinary tract infection.

Spotting on the depo-prevara shot is normal. Dark spotting means old blood as opposed to new (red) blood. Its totally normal... don't worry about it...

dark blood represents old blood.. you notice how when you have your period the last couple of days its darker not red fresh color .. woman have different side effects to different things.. if I were you Id wait and see if it happens again or pain is also with it go ask your doctor otherwise I wouldn't worry about it.. however if it is prolonged seek help.. longer then seven days or so use your judgement..
