Not unless you are a contortionist.
See a doctor, you wouldn't know what to check for even if you could do it yourself.

Well, the answer is yes assuming you
a) can get yourself positioned to do it
b) know what to look for
and
c) have well trimmed fingernails, latex gloves and lots of lube.
While positioning can be a bit tricky, it is not really that difficult. A little practice will soon have you getting the required contact. After all some guys use self stimulation of thei rprostate as an aid to masturbation and some couples use it to achieve a similar effect so you should be able to as well.
The trimmed fingernails, latex glove and lube are essential since the lining of the intestine is somewhat delicate and could be torn by a fingernail or excess force. So, trim the nails, put on the glove, lube generously and be very gentle with yourself.
Assuming you get all that stuff workign well, then the next thing is to figure out what you are examining the prostate for. Unless you have some medical information, the best you will achieve is to detect any unusual lumps or hard spots. But on subsequent exams, you might be able to notice if the size has changed too.
Maybe the best way to do this is to go to a good doctor, have him perform a prostate exam on you and provide instruction as to what he is doing, looking for, etc. Whiel some doctors may be reluctant, I am sure others would find it okay.

NO. There are two ways of checking a prostate: by a blood test in which PSR levels are tested (pretty usefull) and the old fashion way: touching it by introducing a finger in the anus. Yes it is unconfortable, but the information we get from dimesion and surface is better than any other less invasive exam.

You actually want to stick your fingers up your *** to check your prostate? No, it's not a good idea. Go to a urologist and have it checked. I work for them! But I don't do prostate exams, sorry!
