For one, no more Emperor, and perhaps more ridged birth control, and even more respect for the women.
This is a good subject for contrast and comparison. I am interested to see what others have to say.
I have not been aware of anything new in China for quite a while

If you like living under a totalitarian government than I guess now would be better than it was. It is over populated but they are trying to do something about it. Everyone is hating them for it but if they don't they will all starve so what is better have as many children as you want and then let them all starve to death.
Or limit your family's?

They are set to become the biggest industrial nation in the world!
Their standard of living has vastly improved.
They are still a bit secretive, but it is waning.
