Because putting so much effort into matching everything is kind of pathetic.

I don't think it's bad, but it could look tacky, especially if the way you apply your eyeshadow isn't very good. Usually blending the colors is a good idea, so you don't look likeyou plastered your makeup on. If you're wearing a black shirt, try a nude and black shadow combination, or maybe a shiny see tru grey. if you're wearing green, try some green and blue combination or green and brown or green and silver. you get the idea.
Keep in mind though, that you don't HAVE to match your makeup to your clothes. Different colors are okay too, especially if there are certain shadow colors that comliment your skin more than others.

i think its not so much bad as when there was nothing said about it, people didn't put it in proportion wearing loads of green and yellow eyeshadow to match their outfits. i think eveything in moderation, so where a neutral color on your lid and lightly dust the top of your eye with a pastel version of the color. :) just make sure that you're happy-thats what matters both

i never match my make-up to what I am wearing. i wear what looks best with my features and coloring of my eyes and hair. Matching to your clothes looks a bit 80s and tacky. the only thing I would every do in terms of matching to my clothes would be if I was wearing a gold outfit, I would wear warmer type eye colors. Or if wearing silver, I would go with cool tones.

The purpose of wearing eyeshadow is to bring out your eyes... not to bring out the fact that you can match really well. It looks a little "too prepared" too if you are matching your eyeshadow with your shirt, but, to each his/her own.

makeup is supposed to be natural~ Not like you are stuck in a bad 80's movie. The matching of makeup to your clothes shows people an immaturity

I think it's bad if it's too bright. Wear what looks good on you.
