If your settings are normal, then something is definitely wrong. After the dryer has been running for a few minutes, open the door. Is the air inside the dryer hot? If not, then the heating element of the dryer has failed, and you're going to need a repairman to fix the problem.

Forget the previous 3 answers. If it is an electric dryer, the first
thing to check is the voltage arriving at the dryer. If you dont know
how, then you may check the circuit breakers to see if one has
popped. Everything in the dryer runs on 120V, except the heating
element requires two 120V lines. If you are handy, you can check
for power arriving at the dryer and if not, then your
problem is with the house wiring. If you are real handy, you can
check the thermofuse and the thermostat on the heater housing
and check the Heating element for continuity. Any that dont
check ok - replace that part. If all that checks ok - call for service.

when was the last time you cleaned out your dryer? ever thought about having it professionally cleaned by a tech? lint tends to build up in a dryer and if left unchecked can tend to cause a mighty nasty fire in your house. thats why they have safety switches built in to the dryer to sense the temp of the dryer and when it exceeds the maximum meltdown to burndown the house ratio then the dryer heating elemnt is shut down before final meltdown. most of these swiches are located near where the hot air is blowing. these temp switches look like discs about as bigaround as a quarter and tend to have 2 or more wires going to them . the hotter discs have thicker red wires that lead to the heater element at any rate a cheap way to check these safetys is to bypass them jump them and see what happens. but dont leave them jumped out or then you will be defeating the purpose of them being in their to begin with. the dryer really needs to be disasembled and blowed out to fix the problem . If you aint too mechanically declined I would suggest you get a qualified tech to fix it and not just leave but clean it up good. get yer moneys worth!!!!!!!!

It sounds like your heating element has gone bad,its usually what causes that.IT also could be one of the safety switches,or a fuse in the wiring.ITS not that hard to fix but you do need someone with a little bit of experience on those things. To prevent the heater from burning out in the future make sure you clean the lint filter with hot water and soap about every three months.

I agree with your first answer. Sorry to tell you. It won't be expensive, a heating element is relatively cheap. It's the labor he may charge what may be expensive. I wish you the best of luck.
