OK. I'll answer. Someone might read this who would really like to know.
Take it from someone who did everything wrong.
1. Don't try to fit in with the crowd. Be yourself. The crowd can spot phony a mile away and will prey on it like vultures. Someone who likes what he/she likes, instead of pretending to like what everyone else is doing, will gain more respect.
2. Be intelligent, be a straight-A student, do your best, but SHUT UP about it. Smart people don't have to prove they're smart.
3. Laugh at yourself.
None of this applies if you come from a poor family. At least in a high school environment, if your clothes don't measure up because your family can't afford better, you're toast.
And a note on the popular cheerleader: I was, and ever will be, the class nerd and verbal punching bag. However, when I ended up as an adult in the same therapy group with a former cheerleader, I knew that, as has been said, high school popularity means zippo later on in life.

Being popular is worthless after high school.....I was a cheerleader, honor student, and popular in high school but it doesn't necessarily make you happy. I am more happier now than back then and I only consider myself as having a few friends.

Being popular is not the answer. I was popular, and everyone knows everything about you! It's not fun! It's like being a celebrity! Trust me, you want people to know EVERYTHING about you!?

yea popularity is so lame it's not funny. everyone in the popular group is so selfconsious about themselves they go over the top to get attention, thats wat makes them popular.{unless there rich lol}
Being yourself is the best thing u can do, hey thats wat make me popular im just crazie! :)
