Birth prior to 37 weeks is considered premature and the child *may* have initial developmental delays; in general terms, the more premature, the more the risk of longer term issues. There's volumes and volumes of information on preemies online. Often enough, preemies are given the best medical treatment and come out fine.

My brother was born 2 months early (This was in the mid 60s before all this medical knowledge was found out) The doctors did not think he was going to live. He did though. He has some brain damage, and is disabled. He will be 40 years old next year, and he averages out to function at an 8 year old's level.

Physically he has a hard time with his balance and his arm shakes when he uses it. He is more prone to getting pneumonia. All because when he was born they did not have all the equipment and knowledge and medicines they have now.

He is sweet and kind, However he will never have a job other than a sheltered workshop, never marry and have children, never live on his own. So if I was you I'd be thanking my lucky stars I am able.

My now 9 year old son was born a month early, he came out 2lbs. 4ounces, he had to stay in the hospital for 4 months because of his weight, the only problem he has is during the spring time he develops asthma, but it's not bad. Other then that he is a very healthy boy and loves school.

If a baby is born at 36 weeks instead of 40 (one month early), they've made it to the finish line essentially. If a baby is born any earlier than a month, they are premature.

My son was born exactly one month early and he's doing extremely well.

If you've noticed something amiss, maybe you can talk to your doctor or a school nurse or someone similar? Best of luck to you :)

definite. i became 2 months untimely and the only issues I even have is getting to grasp problems, epilepsy and a lazy eye. different then that, i'm especially ok. It relies upon on how the infant reacts to being born a month early and how properly the group up in NI CU look after the infant. now and returned babies react worse being previous due, or complete term, then being untimely. My son became born 38 weeks and became dealt with like a untimely, being small in weight, 5lbs 9oz and he could no longer shop his physique Temperature good, he spent a month incubated, fed via tubes, and hooked as much as machines, quickly getting to grasp that he became born with a uncommon chromosome deletion and now could properly be a particular desires infant, yet no remember how early, or previous due infant is, constantly love them no remember what :-) <3

I have read that quite a bit of children who were more than 3 weeks premature have obstacles relating to health or development later in life, if not right away. Unfortunately, that is the risk of being born before they were completely developed in the womb. Fortunately, in this day and age, there are medications as well as programs in school to help those who were born before their time.

My son was born a month early and nothing is wrong with him mentally or physcially. He weighs around 60 pounds (More than most kids his age). He is so smart. My son weighed 4lbs, 15.6oz and was 17 inches long at birth and you would never believe it now.
I don't think anything will make a kid have something wrong with it if it is born early unless now it is born with a handicapp or disiablity

No. I was born two months early. I was always a small child, and still a small woman, but there's never been anything "wrong" with me. I've actually always been extremely healthy.
