Let's put it to all the US companies that have moved their production overseas. If we don't buy their products, they will have to bring the jobs back to the US. Do you think it can work?

Not really. Union wages, worker's comp, entitlements, etc in the US would make most products way more expensive than they're worth. I love Milwaukee power tools (are they still American?) but what would you do if you wanted to replace your VCR?

It's a global economy. If the United States cannot compete fairly in the open global market, then we will end up in the dust bin. On the good side, it's much better for world security if many nations start engaging in productive free-enterprise capitalist endeavors, simply because vendors and customers don't war against each other. Mutually beneficial economic inter-dependencies promote civilization. If we don't buy what other countries produce more efficiently, then they will not have the money to buy our high-tech .

Artificial control of markets always leads to an stagnant, low-growth economy with artificially high prices. France is a prime example of low growth and opportunities, and North Korea is the extreme example.

Free-enterprise capitalism has increased the wealth of people, even in the Third World.

The real trick is to ensure that it's Free and FAIR trade. That crusade you can do a lot of work with, and I'll back you 100%.

Sure it can work, but where am I going to get my stuffed animals, watermelon, and new DVD player?

Hmm...just thinking. It would be almost impossible to buy American made products only. It might be easier to encourage people to buy American gifts for the holidays.

Only if you can find someone here that will work for 12 cents an hour. Even baseball gloves and Levis are'nt made here. Uh, what is made here anymore?
