not very much. Elementary Algebra, Beginning Algebra, and Introductory Algebra are probably nearly identical. Algebra I may go a bit farther into the material.

The courses are targeted with different ages/grades. And they are different levels. Elementary Algebra/ Beginning Algebra/ Introductory Algebra is for middle school students. Algebra 1 is for 9th grade. Beginning Algebra and/or Introductory Algebra is for 8th graders. There is also a course for 8th grades is Prealgebra. Elementary Algebra is a review of 6th grade and adds new concepts such as learning about simplifying expressions and harder 1 varible equations and it is targeted at 7th graders.

A lot of it tends to do with the school you are attending.
when I was in HS, I took Algebra then Algebra 2 then Pre-Calc
Some schools call Pre-Cal Trigonometry
Some schools Lump Geometry & Trigonometry into a Pre-Cal class
I would say the biggest difference is only in the names of the courses.
As for content in the classes, it would vary based on the school, but what I would say as a general "feeling" with no real evidence to support my belief:
elementry & begining algebra would lay foundations for the students in reguards to X and Y variables and uses of them in linear graphing
Introductory Algebra may go a bit further and incorporate greater use and application of graphing and comparing graphs
Then Algbra 1, I'd say would include all of this and inequalities and possibly elementary proofs and systems of equations and be shown radicals and basic gemetry rules.

Algebra 2 includes doing greater complicated issues. Factoring and matrices are 2 of the factors of algebra 2 that I remember off-hand. My algebra 2 instructor additionally taught us uncomplicated trigonometry, yet i'm uncertain that this is a factor of the common algebra 2 curriculum.

Well, should you do basic math... subtract them all...
Elementary, Beginning, Introductory, and 1 are all the difference.
