Many factors come into play here, the size of the person, if its a wet or dry fart, or a fart with some projectiles in it, and what tpye of food was eaten to produce the gas that is about to be expressed. You can also use a lighter to see how far the flame goes and that can be another venture for you. Hope this helps with your boredom.???

I dont actually think there is a way. Unless you got one of the speed detectors and lit a match - but don't actually do that - my friend farted on a lit match before, and the flame traveled up through all of the gas and up his butt and he had to go to the hospital because of all the burns.
