Hmm do you have a dvd drive? If so you can get programs that will just convert it to MP4 for the ipod..im not sure of the many diffent programs...
If you dont have a dvd drive...[like me]
I went to walmart and bought this thing called "DVDXpressDX2 witch is this hardwere were you plug it to a comp, other end to a dvd/vcr/etc and it has a opiton for ipod witch will convert it for you. You can even burn dvds if you hada drive... it was around 70bucks.

It's a freeware so you are not breaking any rule if you'll use it. good luck
