I was anemic too do not worry, have two healthy children.. Just keep on taking the iron supplements and try adding as much iron rich food as possible.. Follow the doctors advice and you probably would not need a transfusion unless you bleed excessively.. (not likely to happen)

As long as you have taken your supplements you should be fine. I am anemic as it is, and got severly so when I was pregnant... all three times! (and currently on 4th!) I have had to take the supplements from the day I found out! I never had any problems with bleeding. Just relax and don't fret about it! Stress will only make you feel worse! IF you are still worried about it... start eating iron rich food daily at every meal starting now! This may help ease your mind knowing that you are getting the extra Iron. Good luck and congrats on the little one!

have you tried fefol iron supplement tablets ? i lost a lot of blood when i had my first baby the doctors said if i had lost any more blood they would've had to give me a blood transfusion. they did a blood test to check my iron levels the result came back very low so they gave me fefol iron supplement tablets. since i have been taking these my iron levels have gone back up. talk to the doctors about your concerns. you would have to loose a lot of blood to need a transfusion.

Go to a whole foods store and get floradix. It is much easier for your body to deal with because it is just concentrated from real food. Also consider taking some vitamin K.

I can't comment on how bad it may be without knowing your levels and whatnot.

Your doctor will monitor your anemia; your body is under a lot of stress and more to come...relax is the best you can do for now...

A blood transfusion isn't out of the question, sometimes, but death due to anemia during childbirth is extremely rare. Please, try to relax. You're going to be just fine.
