Hmm, that is a tricky one. Here's a list of my favs (both young adult and older adult lit): I love to read and enjoy stories with a good plot and/or theme, which all of these have. Sorry I'm not more specific.

"Number the Stars" (young adult, about the Holocaust)
Robert Jordan's "The Wheel of Time" series (fantasy, adult)
D.J. MacHales's "Pendragon" series (fantasy, adult)
"Go Ask Alice" (adult, drug use)
"The Princess Bride" (either, kinda romance but not really...way better than the movie)
Harry Potter series
Lord of the Ring series
"The Giver" (young adult, fantasy)
"The Hitch-hikers Guide to the Galaxy" (again, way better than the movie, adult, science fiction. One of those books you just have to accept as fact in order to get through.)

Hmm, I'm sure there's more but that sounds good for now.

I'm an avid reader and I just finished a suspense book called Charming, Alarming, Disarming. This book is my favorite because I couldn't put it down. And when I wasn't reading it, I was thinking about the plot, the characters, what was going to happen next. Any book that can hold my attention like that is a keeper. The author's name is Ann Lee. Just type in the name of the book in any search engine and you should get her website.

Here are some good ones that I've read recently: :)

The Earth Children series by Jean Auel (interesting because their world is so much different than ours. It's about a clan of neandrathals who take in a member of our human ancestory.)

The Odd Thomas series by Dean Koontz (just a real great read. About a young man who can see spirits of people, mainly people who need help solving their murder or protecting their friends/family.)

The Harry Potter series

The Lord of the Rings trilogy and the Hobbit

Light on Snow by Anita Shrieve (About a young girl and her father who find a baby abandoned in the snow. The characters are written really well even though the plot is slightly slow.)

Marley and Me by Josh Grogan (A really great book but it's an almost guaranteed tear jerker. It's about a young couple and their dog and how their lives progress.)

I'm going to recommend the all American Classic "Shane" by Jack Schaefer. If you haven't read it yet, it's really a great book and easy to read.

My favorite book is Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte but it's a little heavy in the sense that it's a bit depressing.

Two other books I read recently are "The Joy Luck Club" by Amy Tan (great book for chicks), and "Dancing at the Rascal Fair" by Ivan Doig (long but beautifully written).

Happy Reading! :)

The Saga Of Darren Shan or The Cirque Du Freak series. I've just read the triology of 12 books. It's mainly about the adventure of a half-vampire. The plot is very interesting but the ending is just OK. You should really check it out.

Go to Amazon.com and search:
"Lost from Atlantis Book 1" - Book 2 is going to be out in the next 6 weeks or so, Book 3 is written and in editing and will be out sometime in the next few months.
"Death by MURDER David Lindsay" - you have to search that way or it won't come up. There's lots of sex in that one.
"Super Spaghetti"
And the best part is, for now, they're all FREE. You can read them with Kindle Unlimited - if you don't have Kindle Unlimited Google how to get a free trial, and all those books are free. They can be read online, with a free Kindle phone app, or on a Kindle.

I just read a great book. It's called The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls. It's a memoir of her childhood. She grew up poor, starving, freezing, inadequate housing, inadequate everything. When she finally could help her parents financially, they declined and were content to be homeless squatters rooting through dumpsters. Her father was brilliant but alcoholic, her mother was well educated and an artist, but totally irresponsible. The story of Jeannette and her three siblings is at times funny, often bizarre and always tragic. It is truly amazing.
