Diet and exercise have a lot to do with whether or not you get hemorrhoids. Eat fresh, ripe, raw, organic fruits and veggies; avoid sugars and trans-fats and white flours and grains and overdosing on proteins (the Atkins Diet, for example); stay away from highly processed foods; ditch the drugs and alcohol (including tobacco and the prescription pharmaceuticals and all their lovely 'side-effects' that often include constipation); steer clear of iron pills unless you really dig being bunged up with piles.
Find an exercise you really enjoy (walking? tennis? rebounding? hockey? weights? yoga?) and do it... if you love it you'll be more likely to get into the routine of doing it regularly.
Drink pure water as needed when you are thirsty.
To help prevent both hemorrhoids and varicose veins during pregnancy, combine 15 drops of pure, unadulterated Geranium Essential Oil and 5 drops of pure, unadulterated Cypress Essential Oil in 2 tablespoons of a carrier oil (such as Virgin Coconut Oil). Spread this formula from the ankles to the thighs in gentle upward motions. The geranium will encourage circulation and the cypress has an astringent effect. Mix 2 drops of geranium and 2 drops of cypress in with about a 1/2 Cup of Epsom Salts. Add this mixture to a running fawcett and enjoy a lovely, aromatic, therapeutic essential oil bath that will soothe and/or prevent both hemorrhoids and varicose veins.
All the best health!

It's more likely when a woman's pregnant. All them tissues get loose like a goose and things stretch outta place, so, yeah, hemorrhoids are more likely during pregnancy (especially during labor.)
But I've never been pregnant and I have hemorrhoids. And they SUCK. I hate 'em!
Don't get them if you can help it. I'm not sure how to avoid them, but...pray to whichever deity controls these things (I think it's a goddess named Anusina) and ask that you don't get them.

People of all ages can get hemroids, however, it is very common for most women to get hemroids while pregnant, or because of labor. Hemroids know no age.

Unfortunately, you don't need to be pregnant in order to get them. If your underwear is uncomfortable, if you sit most of the day and you don't excersice you might get some.
