Or some things that our fellow gay and lesbian community can make better or try to make better for the future.

I believe we can continue to collectively make our voices heard in the halls of Congress. If we can't financially contribute to the GLBT organizations that are working on our behalf, we can write our local state and federal elected officials to let them know we are out there and let them know when we disagree of their perception of us as a people and as a community.

We can become involved in more that just GLBT community organizations but other programs that benefits the communities as a whole. We are more than just our sexuality. We can adopt public schools in our neighborhoods and ensure kids receive the supplies and support they need. Those little things that others think aren't important -- we can do them. We can become invovled in the school systems even if we don't have kids or niece and nephews in them. Our involvment could make a big difference,

I think our biggest challenge is going to be calling the elected officicals and clergy into responsibility.

I personally think that with Congress returning in January and it being full of Liberal Democrates we will see alot of changes and I really believe speaking as a Democratic Liberal myself that our voice is going to be heard and that we may see some those long awaited changes.

But I also think with New Jersey and the other states that have passed Civil Unions, more states will be following in 2007 and providing more rights and oppurtunities for the LGBT community. I live in the State of Illinois that has a population of 12.5 million, and nearly 22,900 of them being same-sex couples, but whatever state you live in this will make a positive impact.

And as the LGBT community I think we will start making more of an impact on the world in general, we've got our foot in the door and now is the time to gain entry and truly make a difference.

We can all remember to try to be kind to each other (and even the people that annoy the crap out of us). Kind is good.
