You know I think you sould let your body be your guide....if you experiance pain the next day...maybe that was a little over doing it. Though you will experiance pain no matter what w/ stiches.
I was at walmart about 30 hrs after giving birth to my son. I was going to buy groceries the day after i went into labor...so when i got home...I had no choice but to go to the store (I'm a single mommy). I walked a little slower but it felt good after being in the hospital 24 hrs in a bed.
Some people heal faster then others, some people handle more pain then others too. But discomfort vaganialy is normal even after 6 weeks...sometimes scare tissue is more sensitive.
You can drink if your not breastfeeding...in fact you can have one drink and still use ur milk if you are breastfeeding...but anymore then that you must throw it away for 24 hours from the time you stopped. I hope this helped

wine is okay if u r not breast feeding.....a little wine is okay if u r but alcohol comes out with the milk and you should give the baby formula after u drink for the rest of the day and night. I went out 4 days after i had my son and girl the stitches will hurt...I tore all the way up and through and had a hundred plus stitches down there and had to be cauterized 2ntimes a week for 6 months until it healed properly so you are very ok good luck

well for me with my first i was out of the hospital in two days and after i went home got washed up and went out to go grocery shopping. with my second i only stayed in the hospital for 24 hours and i went home and went to doing the things that i normally do. i too got stitches but i didn't let it get in my way. i guess really it just depends on the person. some people feel the need to rest and some just jump into their normal routine...well somewhat normal because things do change after having a baby, but you get what i mean. i don't see why it would be bad for you to drink wine after you had your baby unless you are breast feeding then you shouldn't drink any alcohol at all. it is normal to have pain from your stitches but just be sure to do your sits baths and use a squirt bottle with warm water in it on the stitches everytime you pee. you should also use bag balm with gauze on that area too. i did all of that after both of my pregnancies and i healed really fast. good luck

I had a c-section and was sore for a long time after my son was born. Just try taking it easy for a least the first six weeks until the doctor okays you to go back to normal. I think that it takes like two years before your stomach is back to normal.

You sound like you are doing ok...wine will thin the blood...only eight stitches, boy are you lucky...stitches pull and do hurt...get all the sleep you can now because as the baby grows it will get more active...Be aware of post delivery infection at the site where the stitches are and after delivery blues...

It's whatever the mom feels like doing. I was out and about the next day (for quick errands while baby was with Daddy at home). Didn't have any stitches though... and I don't drink... so???

My daughter is 11...and I'm still resting. Actually, just do what feels right for you, and stop when you're tired. If you notice any increase in discharge, then slow down.

I'm disgusted at the majority of posters here. Seems like most mothers are sub-standard and agree with drinking wine...even if breastfeeding???
Ok, you've just given birth, body has been through major trauma and you're out running around??? Everything is open and bleeding still, can't groceries wait?
You have 8 stitches and pain, take a bloody hint and sit your butt down!!!

as long as you aren't breastfeeding, then drinking is fine. you can go out whenever you feel you are ready. the doctors say to take it easy for 6 weeks though.
