don't you get annoyed to hear people's problems in life?

I do not get annoyed unless the person makes a habit of whining about the same old problems, yet they never ever take steps to help their situation. To me it just seems like they wallow in their misery and don't want to actually change things for the better.

Only if they are the type of person that is always whining about some damn thing..ya know the kind that seems to thrive off of umhappiness or something..then yes it is annoying.
But I do not mind listening to people I care about as that is just part of caring. :)

I had this one friend who would always talk about how miserable he was, and how his marriage is horrible, and how he's depressed, and how he overeats to compensate for feeling bad, and how his therapy isn't working out.....

I was exhausted every time I talked to him. Kinda made me want to kill myself!!! Loved him to death, but Good God, one can only take so much of listening to someone else's problems.

Yes, when I hear the same problems over and over again. If they know you cannot help them and they keep repeating themselves or the solutions are obvious and they do nothing but keep wining.

sometimes i do, but most of the time i dont. i only get annoyed when it is obvious that, that person is making up a story
