Assuming that some of these people are in various stages of Alzheimers, and that you are mixing it up with people who are totally lucid.... here's my suggestion based on personal experience.
Play a game that doesn't require skill, but encourages interaction.
Have everyone wrtie down the biggest embarrassment of their life, and put their name on it. Then, they have to tell the group the story of how it happened. Or, the best thing that ever happened in their life, and how it happened.
A Name That Tune competition would work too, using 40's and 50's music. Rather than play a couple of notes, you would play a few seconds of the song.
A Chinese New Year lunch might work too. Have every person make out a "fortune", and you can replace the original fortune in the fortune cookie with tweezers. Some of the best fortunes come out of this!

Have them write down their grandchildren's names: who has the most grand kids? Who has the most great grand kids? Find out who is the oldest? Who is the youngest? Have a guest volunteer to play the piano--they may know all the "oldies but goodies" the guests can sing along to

Chances are these seniors will have aids. ie Hearing aids, seeing aids, walking aids, plan on serving them tea and cake ,play a little bingo and hope they are still awake at 8:00pm.
