Sounds like reflux. My youngest daughter had the same issue. The doctor kept prescribing her meds but her father and myself felt the side effects weren't worth it for a 3 week old. We began to let her sleep sitting up and feeding her in little spurts. Also being sure that the baby has gotten a good burp in. My doctor also recommended cereal which will make the milk thicker and less likely to come up. And i did breastfeed and she still had those issues whether she was on bottle or breast. Eventually the problem usually just goes away. She stopped at around 3 months of age.

The other answers about the size of the hole in the nipple are good, but you should have the pediatrician check for a submucous cleft palate. They aren't easy to see, but if your daughter has one, there will be a bluish line down the center of her palate. If that is the case, the muscles that close the nose off from the throat aren't aligned properly. It is a very easy defect to correct surgically.

Check the flow of milk through the teat of the bottle. Hold the bottle upside down and let the milk drip out, it should be a constant slow drip, not too fast nor too slow. Maybe raise the babys shoulders and head a bit more when you are feeding her, if she is too flat this may happen. Dont worry, speak to your health visitor re positioning and flow of milk through the teat if you are unsure. Good luck.

My dad said that I did that all the time and I am fine. I would mention it to your doctor, but I would not worry too much about it. And just a little fyi to the person that said :to bad your not breastfeeding" some people can't breastfeed so hold your comments til you get the whole story.

Better check the nipple. Maybe the nipple hole is too big and she is getting too much formula. This isn't right and needs to be resolved. Call your baby's doctor tomorrow and schedule an appointment. Don't wait for her next well baby exam. Your baby's doctor is best to advise you on this one.
All of us answering really lack necessary information to fully assess this problem.

My daughter had this prob and it turned out the flow of the teat was too fast for her.
As for the 'too bad you're not breastfeeding comment' some people can't / don't want to. So quit being insensitive.

Sarah T we all know breastfeeding is better for babies but there is no need to rudely berate people like that for not doing it. It's nothing to do with you just breastfeed your own child and be happy.

It happened with my son. Check which speed the bottle teat is, you may need to get a slower one, if it keeps happening mention it to your health visitor/gp at next visit xx
