Nixon had an enormous lead over U.S. Senator McGovern in the polls, so there was no true reason to spy on the senator. That's what makes Watergate so mind boggling. Nixon had nothing to gain from eavesdropping. As far as Clinton, that was a total witch hunt by the conservative Republican House of Representatives that totally embarrassed this country on the world stage. My relatives in Europe thought Americans were crazy hypocrites over the entire Clinton-Lewinsky farce.

Nixon had the dignity to resign rather that allow impeachment proceedings to divide the country more than it already was. Clinton lied under oath and generally showed contempt for the law. He then used an actual crime he had committed for political purposes. Both were wrong, but Clinton refused to accept responsibility for his crimes.

My gosh wil people stop thinking that the only thing that Clinton did was have sex in the White House?!?!?!?! For heaven's sake, he, knowing the tangled webs that lawyer's weave, twisted his Constitutional rights to deny another person the right to bring suit against him. Yes, Nixon's lying was very wrong, but so was Clinton's.

and Woohoo Leogirl!!!! Nixon was a very good President who actually did something good. For the life of me, I can't figure out what Clinton did other than pay off Bin Laden.

What Clinton lied approximately, despicable because it develop into, develop into strictly a private subject, Nixon lied approximately some thing that effected nationwide secure practices. i'm no longer protecting what Clinton did yet intercourse contained in the White abode and mendacity approximately it quite is probably no longer the comparable as authorizing a spoil in and wiretapping then using rather some Gov't companies to attempt and canopy it up. On a appropriate notice, i develop into in Europe in the process the comprehensive Clinton element, human beings have been amused that it develop into certainly one of those enormous deal. the final mindset develop into why worry prosecuting him, that would desire to be between him and his spouse, dont you have something greater important to concentration on?

They both did acts that were wrong. One is not better than the other. The only tragedy was Nixon was doing a lot of great things for this country.

Any time a "respected" figure does something as dumb as Clintion did, it is shrugged off, but shouldn't be. America has too much tolerence for wrongdoers, who should be punished, not praised.
