I think it's also because the typeset is proprietary.

Many books do that out of concern for readers. Other typesets are difficult to read, especially for readers who have bad eyesight like old folks. Some fonts have fatter letters, meaning they would be recognized more easily. Others could be even harder to read even if you compensate with the font size.

Also, the bigger the fontsize, the more paper and the thicker the book. Thick books are a bit of a put off for most buyers so if they are informed that its just because of bigger letters, thats a plus point for the sale. Some people have preferences too over some types.

Although most people don't care, there are some who are interested in typeset. It's really that simple.

Some type fonts are very nice to read and you may want to type your letters of papers in it
