There will always be racists and misognists whether it's a women president or a black one.
Personally I think Mr. O'Bamma has some interesting views of political issues and I think his multiracial background might just be a benefit.
The only way America will know if they are ready for a black president or a woman president is to elect one.
Canada had a female PM a dozen years ago, England had Mrs. Thatcher, India had Indira Ghandi, Isarael had Golda Myer even Pakistan had a woman president, as have some of the African and South American countries.
Your misogny is showing America!

You are susposed to be an enlightened nation, yet as far as womens` rights and Black people are concerned you are still in the dark ages. You should be ashamed of your racist attitudes. A black person who had the necessary traits to become president, would be a great thing for America, so get on with it and vote in the best person no matter what colour they are.

I would vote for him too and I am a 42 year old white woman. I think he would stand a chance as there are a lot of black voters and they would probably mostly all vote for him as well. A lot of racist have become that way after prison so most can't vote anyway.

i think a better question would be is america ready for a better president? and the answer would be yes. however, in regards to obama and racism, you're right. there are a lot of racists out there but i still believe there are more of us than them. i think it's just that, out of their fear, racists are more vocal. they NEED to have their opinions heard for whatever reason. if obama were, in my opinion, the right man for the job, then he would get my vote.

Hell no! Don't get me wrong, America is, on paper, a very tolerant and equal society. But let's face it, in reality, there is no way America would ever elect a black president for at least the next 20 years. They haven't even had a female president yet for christsakes

The colour of one`s skin shouldn`t make any difference if the policies are what are good for the country concerned,I wonder how long before the same happens here?

sadly I doubt it.
we still have way to many racist and people with self hate in this country.
and even if a Black person some how did make it to office, there is the worry that people are so racist that they would try to kill him/her.
but I would love to be wrong on this.

Correction
Barack Obama is biracial/mulatto
His father is Kenyan American and his mother is a European American.
the question is:
Is the world ready for a biracial president?

I think that America is more ready for a black male president, then they are ready for any race female president. I think that sexism is worse now then racism in America right now.

They should be ready as everyone should be given a chance but the reality is that if a black person got in power he would be assasinated.
