My daughter is just over 6 months and she can now turn her body around, kind of like a clockwise turn, while on her tummy. I am just curious how far off crawling may be.

She is already going up on all 4's and pushing her bum back and forth.

It sounds like any day now. Both my kids started crawling at 6 mths. They started with the commando crawl and then they just took off. It helps it you sorta put a bait infront of them to encourage them to move forward like putting their favourite toy almost within reach in front of them when they rolled on their belly. This is the best part of a mom watching your child advace from one step of growing to the next. Have fun!

Sounds like she is really close, maybe 4-6 weeks though all babies are very different. Is she getting on her hands and knees in a crawling position? Most babies do this first while rocking and then start scooting backwards first. Also, sitting usually comes before crawling so that they can transition in and out of crawling.

Fun times!

All babies are different. One of my nieces never crawled. Another didn't crawl until age 1. Another crawled at age 10 months. My daughter was crawling at age 8 months. Like I said, all babies are different.

If you have hardwood floors it will be more slippery and take her longer to get a good enough grip to crawl proficiently. Carpeted floors are easier for them. Also, some babies just aren't interested. Also, some will "copy" other babies. My daughter was with me visiting a friend whose son was already crawling. The next day, she started crawling herself!

All babies are different and I am no psychic. Listen, just enjoy your daughter because she won't be like that forever the sooner she starts crawling the sooner she will be asking for your credit cards and keys so sit back and enjoy motherhood and the little miracle you have believe me she will crawl when she is ready. She may amaze you and just go right to walking. Good Luck to you and the little one

She'll have to get up on all fours first and then start rocking. She'll rock a bit and then realize she can move if she moves hands/feet. But it's true...some babies never crawl. If she's very active and gets frustrated enough with not being able to move fast, she may go right from squirming around on the belly to pulling up and walking. Some babies even scoot around on their bottoms -- very funny to watch.

Some babies never crawl. My baby could get into the crawling position, but wouldn't crawl more than one or two inches for a long time.

My son was almost a year before he crawled. 14 months when he walked. He rolled and scooted everywhere he wanted to go before then. Not all babies crawl... that's why it's not considered a developmental milestone. My son was a big guy... that's why it took him longer. He was so heavy and massive it was hard for him to maneuver his body around. He's still big.
