This is because internet explorer 7 comes with ClearType enabled by default. On some displays, this can make text look fuzzy. To disable cleartype in IE7, go to

Tools > Internet Options > Advanced

and unselect " Always use Clear Type for HTML"

then restart Internet Explorer.

If you can't find the tools menu, it's because your menubar is disabled. Right click in the toolbar area near the top of the window and click "Menu Bar".

It probably turned on ClearType when it installed IE7. This can make text look better if you're using a LCD screen, but worse if you're using a conventional monitor (CRT). For a lot of people, it's a matter of preference.
