Better still...why don't we just take off the seat altogether and then we can just all sit on ice cold porcelain and not have to worry about it. Fair enough for you?

When men pee they are facing the toilet and can see if the seat is up or down and make a chose which way they want it.
A woman, on the other hand, always sits and usually backs up to the toilet. If the seat is up they tend to fall in, and get pissed, literally.
So no, respect your women and put the seat down, it makes life a lot easier.

Men go #1 standing up, and #2 sitting down. Women sit for both. That's why the toilet seat should always be down because there's a 75% chance the next user will be sitting down (although you can argue it's far more likely a guy will pee.) It's also more courteous to keep the toilet seat down because there's more likely to be pee stains on the rim of the toilet bowl from poor-aimer guys.

Well, it's like this. If we put it up for the male, chances are the next time he went up, he would have to do something more serious than urinate and then he would come out yelling at us for putting it up. Since the male has to sit sometimes and the female has to sit every time, it just makes sense to put it down since the majority of the time that is how it is used. Besides a lot of females have to go in a bigger hurry than the male and it takes time to get the toilet seat down - too much time. Be nice!

If they go in the bathroom together, and feel like playing with each other, yes, they would do it for the fun of it. If not, it is customary for the toilet seat to be down when not in use. A woman would natually sit on the seat. If a man meets it down, he would natually lift it up.
There is no law to say who should do what. They fix the toilet seat if they want too.

We keep the toilet seat down because both men and women poop sitting down.

No. Since men sometimes stand and sometimes sit, and women only sit. Then the seat should stay down. Makes sense to me :)

No. If the seat is left up, there is a probability that someone will accidental sit on the stool and fall into the bowl. Sounds funny, would looked even funnier but someone could get hurt.

Everyone should put the toilet seat and cover down after they use it. I hate walking into someones bathroom and seeing how well or how not so well they clean up after themselves.

That's a good question! It does seem like a double standard, doesn't it?
I put the toilet lid down, not for women, but so my cat doesn't accidentally fall in. LOL
