I've played trumpet for years, in many bands and orchestras.
You have water (spit) in your horn. There are a couple of remedies.
One, the horn may not have the "water keys" (aka spit valves) located in the right position. I have occasionally seen this on different models of horns. Poor designs.
One of the spit valves may not be draining. The drain hole might have been designed to small to properly drain, it might have an obstruction, or when they put the varnish coat on the horn it might have gobbed up too much in the hole, making it smaller. A good repair guy can address the problem, but a spit valve won't drain right if that hole is too small.
One thing you can do occasionally is pull out all of the slides, or at least the offending one, and drain the spit out. This isn't too big of a hassle to do if you only have to do it once in awhile. If it's really cold out and you're getting a lot of condensation, some experienced players learn to do this before taking the field. If you have to do this with your tuning slide (you shouldn't have to) then make sure you get it back in the same position. The slides should pull out freely if you hold down the keys so air can move through them. If they're sticking you need to lube them with Vaseline.

Ok, there is spit trapped in there some where... have you pulled out the slides to empty them? or did you just push the water key? Sometimes if you just push the water key it doesn't get it all. Did you blow through the horn when you did it? that helps too. check all th slides because even the 1st and 2nd valve slides (without water keys) can get spit all up in them. have you tried giveng it a bath? it sounds silly but it works. take every thing apart and set it in the tub of warm water. DO NOT USE SOAP!!! it will take the finish off. In order to get all the goop out of the slides you need a snake. it is a long wire with a small brush on the end. you "snake" the slides while in the water. these "snakes" often come in the care packages you buy when you first get the horn. Also, the water keys could be placed improperly... this is usually found on a beggining trumpet..... i think your Yamaha is a beginner. . for a beginner, it is a decent horn but there certainly is better. have you ever heard of a Bach Stradvarious?? Or a Blessing Ml-1?? those are good trumpets... well, have fun finding your spit!! By The Way: TRUMPETS ROCK!!!

well im personally a drummer but im in a band and hav a few trumpet friends and what i think is theres nothing worng w/ the instrument but maybe u need to use for air when ur playing or buzz ur lips more or lick ur lips or all of the above or something like that and if that doesnt work then maybe it just needs to be tuned or theres something stuck with in it so get a drumstick or sumthin and just kinda poke around and tap it on the inside (dont bang it or damage it just be easy) and see if thats effecting it.
and yamaha make excellent instruments (high quality and durable and very expensive)
