i wouldn't exactly be outraged, i think i would be surprised and somewhat disapointed. 'Ukraine', i don't think, would be a good name. by the sound of it, it would most likely be a unisex name. what say you?

What do I care what people name their kid. It's none of my business and I don't want it to be any of my business. I've known some really great people with weird names. Besides it depends largely on the last name if there is to be a flow like Zoe Zappa, Marlon Brando, Cosmo ______.(fill in the blank).
Maybe the full name is Ukraine Kronsky which sounds OK!
Hey! Remember the boxer with the name Riddick? Sounds like something lesbians would buy. Hahahahahaha. LMAO!

Naming a kid 'Ukraine' is no less ridiculous than the late U.S. city/deceased president naming trend: Madison, Georgia, Virginia, Dakota. Gross. What'll be next, Montpelier? Schenectady? Dakota, ugh. I'd rather have the name Ukraine than Dakota with its miles of flat boring plains any day.

And there is such a thing as genuine pride in one's heritage. There are real, actual Ukrainian people out there with real, honest family roots in the Ukraine. You act like the place is outer space.

I have to say if I met a 38 year old person named Ukraine I would be a little circumspect...What's the point? Life is hard enough...why not paint a "eye" in the middle of the forehead while you are at it?

Ukraine, a former soviet territory.

Its etymology is "borderland", "frontier"

Naming someone with this name is like naming him "outsider"
" on the sidelines", "out".

When this person is old enough, he will be very upset and fed up with a strange name that has not helped him make friends at all.

Please spare him the torture of that awfull destiny.
Unless he is the son of your enemy.

i don't think i would be "outraged". it isn't my child being named Ukraine. It isn't my pick but I am sure there are much worse choices.

Take Care. SD

I wouldn't be outraged, I'd just think the parents are stupid.

That's a name of a country, it's like calling your child Germany or China. Silly, isn't it?

Remind yourself that you are going to be "Ukraine's Mom" for the rest of your life. "Ukraine's mom - can I have a cookie?" That's what you are going to hear for years. If you don't mind being called that, I don't know why anyone else would care.

Not "outraged" but quite disturbed. Why would someone name their kid after a crappy little country? Plus "Ukraine" is kind of an ugly name and it is stupid as well.

What do you care. It's not your kid and really none of your business. Naming a kid Hitler is one thing. Naming your kid after a country, while strange is nothing to be outranged about. The kid will have that privildege all to him self.

Not as outraged as I was when a coworker changed her beautiful name to Zaire.
