A transgenered person should ALWAYS be marked by whatever sex THEY identify with, no matter what gender they look like.

Your birth certificate can not be changed. So, even if you have a surgery and "change your gender" you are still legally the gender you were born with. So if the fill it out the right way, they won't mess it up. Acctaully homeless people do mess up the census. They are not counted since they have no address to give them the census.

I would hope that transgenders would respond as the sex they were born with.
Just for statistic purposes, it would be nice to get an accurate count of male and female births, even if it were just for the physical.

sad to say but gamecock has it all wrong. you CAN get your birth certificate changed post operatively. i know this because i have already contacted the state of my birth (texas) and once my surgeon signs the certification of completion of sex change, then my home state will re-issue my birth certificate in my new name and my new sex.
and no the TG community does not mess up the census.
