Will nations such as Qatar and The U.A.E. ever become as advanced and great like the nations of the west?

What do you mean by "advanced"??? Search on the Internet to see that the countries you mentioned have GDP per capita greater than many Western countries, and very close to the GDP per capita in the US, especiall\y the UAE. They are behind on education and democracy, and some other social issues, but that is subjective.

Dubai is very 'advanced' has a very high standard of living, some of the best 5* hotels in the world, the only 7* hotel in the world, great restaurants, very high tech.
Their economy is booming, much stronger than europe or the USA right now.

it is not there desire.
the islamic culture is centered around god. nothing else really matters. Example, they are willing to strap a bomb to themselves or crash in to a building with a plane to protect that belief system.

they view the west as culturaly bankrupt. they do not wish to model there society after arres. and do you blame them? the inner citys are not pretty. people here don't give a poop about poop. maybe shopping and paris hilton but certainly not the one and only true god. to them life is about god, for us life is about shopping, they do not want to like us.

but if we slaughter both sides of that civil war in iraq, nuke iran, and take over saudie arabia them perhaps someday Qatar and the U.A.E. will become "advanced" like us, but i doubt it.
