Both, yet I feel you are over looking the power of fear in this equation.

This is just a philosophical way of looking at this, but my answer would be that emotions dictate attitude. My reasoning behind this being that, an attitude is a outward expression, while emotions may or may not be outward. So for an attitude to appear, I would consider that there is an emotion behind it pushing the attitude to come out into the open.

I think it can go either way, depending on the situation.
Sometimes I have an attitude which elicits an emotional response (from someone else) and then I often react from an emotional place.
I'm less likely to go from an emotional feeling to striking a pose. I more often find the emotional side overwhelming. If I'm really upset, for example, it just washes over me; no room for attitude there!

Many believe and act as if their emotions dictate their attitude. They believe that they have zero choice in how they feel and allow other persons and circumstances rule their emotions. Actually, it is their own belief system (or bs for short) that controls their emotions and if a person chooses to leave his emotions at the whim of others, so they shall be.
The huge surprise for many is that our emotions are a result of what we think and the meaning we assign an event. If we choose to change our emotions, we can change how we think about something and the emotions will follow.
Have you ever seen two people react differently to the same set of circumstances? They feel differently and react differently because of how they chose to interpret the event. Perspective and attitude are huge.
Sometimes it seems automatic to allow the emotions to take over and to feel that they are in control, however this is only due to conditioning. We are not powerless over our emotions, nor our actions. In fact, that view can be dangerous and lead to jealous and murderous actions.
Reason, logic and self-talk help me to asses and evaluate my feelings so I might discern if they are desireable , useful or even valid.
This undertaking is not for everyone as many enjoy the highs and lows of intense drama, but it works for me.

The attitudes do create reciprocal reactions, which in turn affect the emotions. Not so directly linked. Mostly situation dependent.
For instance, a person has an attitude to admire drunkards, he would find a positive emotion being 'induced' in a situation where there are majority of drunkards, where as in a group of drink-haters, his very admiration would spark a group-assault on him, thus wrecking him emotionally !

I think emotions dictate attitude. For example if you feel happy, you'll be nice to everyone, you'll feel confident. But if you're unhappy with something/someone you tend to stay frustrated. These emotions/ feelings such as happiness, or dolefulness predict your attitude towards others and well yourself.

An emotion is an automated (physical) response to things. An attitude is a set of (cognitive) beliefs about things, usually (but not always) chosen consciously.
Given this, can there be any doubt that your emotions (how you react to things) will be a result of how you judge them (what you think of them)?
