I don't know how you do that ON YAHOO ANSWERS. I do know how that is done in normal typing,e.g. in Microsoft Word.
Start||Programs||Accessories||System Tools||Character Map.
Choose Font = Symbol (you can investigate other fonts later). Highlight the symbol/symbols that you want (one at a time), Choose Select, and when you have them all, "Copy". Now go the document you are working on, and "Paste".
What I do (for example, if I'm typing Spanish), I copy all of the characters I may need, then when I want one, I paste all of them and remove those I don't want at that point. Much easier than going back for one character every time I need it.
O.K. Let me try what someone else has answered. Here goes:
