Is Doug Janik of Tampa Bay a rookie? I went to see the play my Ny Rangers on Dec. 23rd and the people I was sitting with said he's apretty good young defenceman.

I don't think he's that great but Tampa fans think he is.

He played for the Sabres the past few years, got some games under his belt when the starting defensemen fell during the playoffs - Tampa picked him up this past off season, I don't know what Tampa's needs were, but it's clear he's not starting material.

I'm in the Tampa Bay area and follow the Lightning. Janik is an average defenseman. Nothing exceptional.

he's not a rookie...he played for Buffalo from 2002 - 2004...now playing for tampa bay...he's only got 2 points this year so he can't be that good

he was drafted by the Sabres in 1999 and didn't play a NHL game till 2002-03 season. the was traded to TB. he is a stay at home defence man he never goes up on the rush but his a solid player that plays his position right.

he is OK...but nothing special i saw him for years in Rochester and buffalo and he was average at best
