My office has keyed door locks on each door, but no keys. These are indoor offices, and "ultra" security is not needed.

Can these locks be re-keyed without an original key?

How much does it cost if this is possible, say at a Home depot or Lowes?

I want all the locks to have the same key, so that one key can open all the doors.

Thanks for the advice.

I would definately count out Lowes or HD. If you don`t have a key they`re going to direct you to a locksmith. Consider the age and quality of your exsisting Hdw. If newer and a good grade, you may consider having a locksmith replace all the cylinders. Have them "Mastered" so all your employees have a different key, but only you have the master. If that much security is`nt neccessary you may just want to replace them all with something of a lower grade. If you have a somewhat high traffic situation, I would recommend nothing less than Schlage.

I am not sure how much it will cost, but you can get a lock smith to do one of the following:

Make type casts of the original locks and re-create the keys for them - My mum once lost our only set of house keys so got that done. The problem with it is that unless they can also make a master key, or the locks are already the same, you won't have a single key for all of them.

Get all the locks changed. This way you can guarentee that all the locks are the same and in full working order.

I don't know which will be more expensive of the two - you'll need to ask the locksmith. But I think the second option will be the cheapest.

You can re key them without a old key. Your best bet is not to go to home depot or Lowe's but to go to a locksmith. They will do it right. it should cost if you take them the locks about $10 each or less. If they come to you it will be about $150 plus $10 for each

The cheapest way is to take the locks off the door and take to any locksmith. They can do it very quick. without a key. I had several done for only a few $$$ put don't remember how much. As I remember it took 15 to 20 mins to do 2.

Lowes can do them for about 10 to 15 each. Take them with you.

If they are cheap ones, say Quickset, you can probably replace the whole thing for the price of the rekeying.
