Over and over I hear about the US 'winning' in Iraq but no one ever says what that means! If only we 'take the gloves off' and 'kick some butt' we can accomplish 'the mission'. Do people who say those words have any clue what they're talking about? Doesn't seem like it, because the're always so vague. Stuff written by soldiers in the field and knowledgeable people never use language like that. Is it just feel-good propoganda for the naive folks at home? When the enemy you're fighting live cheek-by-jowl with the ones you're supposed to help can a military victory ever be acheived? Could it be that a military solution, which is emotionally satisfying, not be the answer in this situation? It's not a football game after all.

Iraq can defend itself.

We have stayed there to help them defend themselves from foreign terrorists there trying to cause a stir.

Our mission is not to leave when it is complete peace, but to leave the Iraqis to fend from themselves.

Here is my opinion on the definition of victory in Iraq should be;
Conditions that should define victory in Iraq
1-Iraq is a strong Alli of the USA
2-Iraq is a strong partner in the fight against terrorism
3-Iraqi people are in peace
4-Electricity, water, health care for all Iraqis
5-Strong Iraqi government who conduct its work as a servant of the Iraqi people not the master
6-All Iraqis are treated equally. Everyone is treated as a citizen with no difference to what a person believes in or how he/she worships GOD.
7-Religion and Politics should be separated
8-Absolutely no militia allowed
9-Good economy where people can make honest living
10-No outside influence of any kind. Iran, Syria, Jordan, Egypt, Saudia...keep your nose out of Iraq's business
I realize that the above is a tall order and most people would not believe it would be achievable, but I truly believe that it can be achievable if we have strong and competent management in Washington DC and strong and fair leaders in Iraq. Iraqi people, like any people in any country, deserve the opportunity to live freely and happily.

that "war" was lost the second the first ground troops touched Iraqi soil in 2003. I spent 2 years in Iraq during the 1st Gulf War in the SF in the Navy and I know first hand that you can not fight people who do not fear death. George Bush Jr is by far the worst (and hands down the dumbest) president in the history of the US.

it means establishing a working democracy in Iraq, so far they have had the free elections, but the elected government is to weak to govern without our aid.
