Reality Bites came out at the same time and has the same kind of feeling of "what next", but for the kids of the 1990s, but if you really like Linklater films overall, Before Sunrise and Before Sunset, Slacker, Suburbia, Waking Life all have his "walking and talking" journeys. As far as mimicking the whole pot smoking 1976 feel of the film ... nothing comes to mind.

blues brothers is your best bet. tenacious d's new movie pick of destiny is another one worth checking out. fear and loathing in las vegas hails in that catagory.
