I wonder what is there in the Bible, Koran, and Bhadvad Gita that makes the followers of those religions that they seem to have so much dislike for people of other faiths?

I can't answer this question in regard to the books you mention. But it is part of human (and other animal) nature, to view strangers or competitive outsiders as a threat to "our" resources. Humans compete more seriously among themselves than do most other creatures. No doubt the (serious) books we wrote long ago about social "rules" mention or hint at these innate tendencies. From what I do know, most of these books mainly focus on ways to get along with others - as opposed to rejecting others.

Promoting your own religion as best is mainly, and very obviously, self serving. If you can convince someone your way is the only way to heaven (?) then (if they believe you) they will want to follow the "right" way instead of the "wrong" way. This just helps to prove that all religion is man made. If there was an actual God s/he/it would be sure to deliver the "true and only" message and eliminate all fakers. Humans can only claim that the one true God is on their side - when they attack those of other faiths (by words or by war).

Why do you think this?

I am a Christian and I don't have dislikes for people who have different faiths than me or different faiths.

The way I see it is if other faiths give followers a path for leading a good life then how is that wrong?

I also realize that different cultures have different religions but the messages are generally the same accross the board.

It's the interpretations fearful (ignorant) people make of the scriptures they read that creates hatred among differing individuals of faith, not the scriptures themselves. People too often use scripture to justify fear, mistrust, prejudice, hatred, and war. They interpret it to their own benefit, whatever acts they require backing that don't hold strength of truth on their own. Most people ignorant enough fall prey to it because they lack the learning to decipher the true meanings within the scriptures, their meanings lost in written translation and selective de-selection of transcript passed down the ages by opinionated officials with their own political agendas.

Its not what in them, its how they are interpreted. Shallow narrow minds decide that they "have the answer" and everyone else is wrong. Since being wrong means every is then worshiping a "false" God , the carnage is a way to cleanse the earth of those who reject God him/her self. You can do anything to them because God loves you and must hate them; As George Carlin once said," They are praying to the WRONG invisible man"

I think that this statement is a gross generalization born of your limited contact with people of a religious nature. It hardly applied to all of these followers of any of these religions and not likely even to the majority of them. It belongs to the the highly vocal minority of fanatics.

You are judging all by the actions of a few.
As a Christian Pastor I may not agree with the religious beliefs of some but I defend their right to make that choice.

I don't dislike people who believe in different things. There are many people like me. So , didn't quite get your question. There are people who have disagreements, but what you believe is what you believe in the end.

people like, dislike, hate, love other people for many reasons other than just faith or religion...for example, the way people look...the way they smell...the way they act...the way they dress...the way they scratch their rear end...the color of their skin...the music they listen to...the way they chew their food...the language they speak...the place where they were born...their sexual orientation...their political affiliation...they way they post their answers on 'yahoo answers'...in other words...it's called human nature and nurture...you may be predisposed through genetics to certain ideas, but it is the environment that teaches you what you practice...

It is NOT religions that give birth to this hate between humans, it is humans themselves and their lack of understanding and acceptance creates this problem.

It's not the books, it's SOME of the people who read and then, dangerously, interpret them!
You can find fundamentalists in every belief system...even among atheists and agnostics!
