of course it's possible Just because he is mentally challenged doesn't mean his hormones aren't racing. It is not "odd" .are you a teenager? do you want a girlfriend? Do you find it odd? If you don't know what to say have a talk to his mum and let her handle it

Well just because he is mentally challenged does not mean he cannot have a girlfriend or feelings for one. He is actually doing what is normal for his age. If he has a close circle of friends and family he will be fine. It is normal to want to protect him and keep him safe, but he needs to experience life and all it has to offer. Talk to his mom and see how she feels. She may not be ready to let him into this part of life just yet. Respect your cousins feelings and talk to him normally like you would any other 14yr old boy. I work with people everyday just like your cousin and they mainly just want to be treated normally. Good luck.

I worked for a group home for mentally challenged adults for a few years and we were trained in those kind of situations. Your cousin is mentally challenged yes, but still human! It's perfectly normal and fine for him to want to date. There are usually open dances that are sponsored by various help agencies across the US. Just contact one that is local to you and ask when they're having their next get-together. There is usually an admission cost of $3-$5. And definitely tell his mom! She'll probably be thrilled that he confided in you and she'll be able to get him out to the kinds of social situations that he needs to be involved in. Best of luck!!

He just wants to be like everyone else and go through the same paces. There's nothing wrong with that, and I'm sure if you told his mom, she would know what was best for his situation. I know firsthand how awkward it can seem to try to merge "normal" social skills with people with mental challenges, but they need your support and the ability to make decisions on their own.

Well....of course it is possible for him to get a girlfriend. Its possible for anyone to.
As for him wanting to get one, i would tell his mom. Maybe your Aunt can sign him up for a group thing for other special kids, where he can meet boys AND girls :) just like him...but just because he is special doesnt mean he needs a special girlfriend~!
It may seem odd...but he is a person so he will get a girlfriend...not matter what , I wish him the best of luck :)

depends how challenged....like if its just ADD...well pretty much every1 has tht now...lol but if it's actually serious, like downs syndrome or something, then you should talk to his mom? Also, does he go to a special school? Because then it should be no problem, but if he doesn't...then you might want for him to meet other kids like him...Just a suggestion....
