If this is for homework... well, I'm reluctant to answer.
Lennie dies, therefor he isn't guilty of murder. Also, He didn't know the power of his own strength, he meant to keep the girl from yelling so George wouldn't get mad at him, he had absolutely no intention of hurting the girl. If Lennie hadn't died he would have been convicted of murder because in what, the 1920's, the mentally challenged were seen as savages, not living, feeling people.
George isn't really guilty of murder either. Shooting Lennie in the back of the head was the only way to save Lennie. If Lennie had been caught he would have been killed or sent to a mental institution, which in those days was basically a death sentence.
George would have been some what of a hero to the town, "killing a rapist monster" like Lennie.
He had no other choice.

My opinion on George killing Lennie, is that Lennie was getting into so much and was getting both him and George into trouble. So that the other guys did not kill him, George decided to do it himself, to save Lennie from the pain of the other guys really hurting him. I dont believe he was guilty of murder, he was slow and did not realize what he had done. He was very strong and did not do it on purpose.

Lennie is like a small child, he keeps mice in his pockets and even when George catches him and tells him not to do it, he does it anyway. I think Lennie is too mentally ill to understand what is right and wrong. Therefore, he did not kill Curly's wife out of malice, only out of ignorance. (go on amazon.com and type in the names of the people in the search engine to find page numbers)
George killed Lennie because it was the only way to save Lennie from himself, and to save George in the long run. Staying with Lennie only kept George from having a real life, a life where he could someday get married and buy the land, build the house, etc.

George knows that there is no way to save Lennie. He also knows that if he let's the mob kill him, which they will,Lennie will experience a great deal of pain. George cannot let them hurt him he loves Lennie way to much to let them hurt him so he kills him quickly. When George kills Lennie he might has well killed himself because he will now spend the rest of his life alone without even the dream of having their own place. George will just go on alone with no hope. The book's basic theme is loneliness.

Lennie is not guilty of murder because he lacks the mental capicity to realize what he did. however, at that time for a poor man that would not have mattered. My opiion of george's killing of lennie is that it is a mercy killing lennie would have had to gone though a lot of torment before he died, but george made sure that he died happily.

George killed Lenny out of love and sympathy. He knew he couldn't survive being locked up like an animal and he (George) couldn't let that happen. It was more of a mercy killing. A form of euthanasia.

I believe that George is not guilty, bacause Lennie is a threat to the world. Being sick doesn't always mean something.

Dude, this is your opinion...whatever.
MY opinion is that it was better for George to do it. He would rather be the one killing him than the angry mob. Besides, Lennie was very dangerous.

It was a mercy killing. it was better for George to kill him than for the other guys to. It relates back to when Slim's dog had nine puppies and he drowned four of them, since they were going to die of starvation anyway. Or at least that's my teacher's explanation.
