I wash my clothes after only wearing them once, is that wasteful or typical? How many times would you wear something(excluding coats) before washing it?
Thanks for your help

I know a lot of people who think that you actually wear out the fabric too quickly by frequent washing, but I see it this way. If I have worn it out into public, it needs to be washed before I wear it again.

Think of all the places we go, seats we sit on; restaurants, offices, doctors offices, waiting rooms, taxis, theatres, yuk. How many others have been there too? How many little kids have sat there in a soggy diaper or worse? Wash them whenever you want to.

It amazes me how our society has changed in that regard. Most clothes that have been worn only once or twice are not really dirty and do not really need to be washed. We have become very fastidious about such things, and as a result rather wasteful with water and damaging to the environment because of all the unnecessary detergents we use. There is nothing wrong with wearing clothes several times, expecially if the weather is not particularly warm and if the clothes do not get perspiration or stains in them. We really do need to relax a little about such things. Wearing something only once and then washing it, is wasteful in my opinion if it isn't stained.

Depends on the piece and the conditions. Pretty common, but some items can go longer like heavy shirts/sweaters work over a t or cami, some pants without dirt ie jeans. Items worn only a short time say to run out to dinner or erands can go a couple of trips. Some items wear out with too much washing so be sure to be careful with them.

Its not really wasteful but if you wash clothes constantly then they will fade. I wear my jeans twice before washing them, I normally wah my shirts everytime I wear them because of the sweat and deordorant. If I only had the piece of clothing on for a little while than I will most likley hang it back in the closet.

I agree with one time is enough to wear anything before you mildly wash it. if you wear over it gets a unclean smell. Especially under ware, blouses, and socks or hose. Never, ever wear those twice between washes

I don't think it's wasteful for clothes that you wear during the day. Even if you don't get dirt on the surface, human beings still perspire. I suppose you could get a couple of days out of PJs.
