..not so much my own death, but having to live through the death of a loved one.

Losing a friend's soul to eternal Hell. For myself, I have no fear. I am not afraid to die; I am not afraid to grow old (some would say I already have!); I am not afraid to try new things at least once; I am not afraid of ignorance, for it is an opportunity to teach or learn, depending which side I'm on. Fear is the opposite of faith, and I have faith in God and in Everlasting Life. So, my question would more likely be: Why are you afraid?

Complacency and sloth. The slow burn-out of resistance. The attacks on my identity by corporate and political power. Bombs. Banned books. The rapid growth of government. The slow withering of my rights. The reduction of human beings into "market groups" and "target audiences". The reduction of human beings into targets. The thought that someday, there will be no children playing in the woods. But perhaps I am terrified most by people who "just go about their business", who pretend their thoughts are original, who, when pressed, repeat the same mantra: "I'm just doing my job; I don't know how the rest of it works..."

I would define hell as reaching the end of my life and finding myself disappointed at the amount of energy, love, laughter and tears I put into it. I am most afraid of disappointing myself.

The Unknown.

“Count your smiles instead of your tears; Count your courage instead of your fears.”

“Never fear shadows. They simply mean there is a light shining somewhere nearby.”

“Too often we are scared, scared of what we might not be able to do, scared of what people might think if we tried, we let our fears stand in the way of our hopes. Why? There's really no time to be afraid. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain. Everything!”

“We dance for laughter, we dance for tears, we dance for madness, we dance for fears, we dance for hopes, we dance for screams, we are the dancers, we create the dreams.”

“Truth fears no question.”

“If fear alters behavior, you're already defeated.”

“You can discover what your enemy fears most by observing the means he uses to frighten you.” ~ Eric Hoffer

“Confront your fears, list them, get to know them, and only then will you be able to put them aside and move ahead.”

Never finding the love of my life and being totally alone forever ..It is more frightening then even death is to me. Actually I would rather die then being so a lone anymore. I can't take it.

I have been poor all of my life and although I am making moves to escape poverty I still feel like it is inevitable. That would be my fear to remain in poverty.
