im not sure what letter you are talking about, or what the context of it was. we used to be "allied" with saddam, in fact we and the french gave him many of the chemical weapons he used on the kurds and iraqis. They also have a different outlook over there, like the first gulf war, those who run away live to fight another day.

One would surmise that He was trying to do some sort of trade off in exchange for clemency. I very much doubt whether it could be taken as a legitimate manifesto pertaining to His contrition.

who knows...but thank god someone wrote it...I'm a reporter reading the news on a radio station and there is NOTHING going on today. I would have 4 minutes of silence if it weren't for that letter and Ford dying.
