Don't eat:

Raw meat such as sushi, seafood, rare or uncooked beef, or poultry because of the risk of contamination with coliform bacteria, toxoplasmosis, and salmonella.
Raw eggs, or foods containing raw egg such as Caesar dressing, mayonnaise, homemade ice cream or custard, unpasteurized eggnog, or Hollandaise sauce because raw eggs may be contaminated with salmonella.
Soft cheese such as blue cheese, feta, Brie, Camambert, and Latin-American soft white cheeses such as queso blanco and queso fresco because they may harbor harmful bacteria.
Fish containing accumulated levels of mercury in their fatty tissues such as shark, swordfish, king mackerel, tilefish.

When a pregnant woman consumes large amounts of mercury, her baby may suffer brain damage resulting in developmental delays (for example, delays in learning to walk or talk).
Fish containing high levels of an industrial pollutant called polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) in their fatty tissues such as bluefish and striped bass, and freshwater fish such as salmon, pike, trout, walleye from contaminated lakes and rivers. According to the March of Dimes, consumption of large amounts of PCBs by pregnant women is linked to decreased attention, memory, and IQ in their babies. Check with your local Health Department to determine which fish in your area are safe to eat.

A PREGNANT WOMAN SHOULD INCLUDE IN HER DAILY DIET AT LEAST:

Five servings of fresh fruits and vegetables (including at least one serving of a dark orange vegetable, two servings of dark green leafy vegetables, and one serving of citrus fruit)

Six servings of enriched, whole-grain breads and cereals. Three servings of nonfat or low-fat milk or milk products

Two to three servings of extra-lean meats, chicken without the skin, fish, or cooked dried beans and peas

Eight glasses of water

I'm pregnant too and I think of it like I'm going on a healthly diet but not an actual diet. But on a diet you wouldn't eat a lot of sweets or fried foods or fast food. You would eat lots of fruits and vegetables. You want to watch your iron. So eat like spinach and broccoli. And no sodas with caffeine. So cut back on the chocolate too. Water and juice. That is what I was told so far and this is my first also.

I was told not to eat Lamb. Too bad because I craved gyros. I was also told not to eat fresh water fish and broccoli. I guess the debate on a small amount of caffeine rages on. No raw or under cooked meats. Fiber and fresh fruits and veggies are good to eat. Calcium rich foods and take your prenatal vitamins

Eat lots of peanut butter, protein is supposed to make the baby have more brain cells. Fruits and veggies are very healthy. When you get farther along you might find out you can't eat some things because of heartburn. Good luck with your little one. Enjoy it, someday you will miss it.

Lots of fruits and vegetables! Just healthy food in general, there are some things that you are supposed to aviod, like certain soft cheeses and certain fish. I don't know exactly which ones though.

Please note, salmon is not a high mercury level fish. However, *some* farm raised salmon may be at risk for toxins. Wild salmon may be the better choice, and has omega-3 fatty acids which are great for baby's developing brain.

foods with lots of fiber~ constipation is one of the negatives things you will experience!
whole grains, vegetables, protein, fiber... stay away from fast food~ they are not healthy for you or the baby!
and stay away from sushi~ especially fish with high mercury levels like tuna and salmon... I was craving sushi and I ate some crab sticks not actual sushi... >.<

all i know is that a few months back, on the news it was not recomending to eat tuna while pregnant due to high levels of mercury. i think everything else is okay as long as its done in moderation.

You should, ofcourse, stay away from caffeine, foods w/ a lot of preservatives (boxed meals), raw meats (sushi), and tuna. Here's a nice article.
