It's a bit like the evening gathering of the elders round the campfire - a place where the younger members of the tribe can ask for advice and benefit from the wisdom of their elders; a place where people can share stories, worries and intimate feelings; a place where a sense of community and bonding can take place.
The local networks of extended families and friends in our society have all but died away and i think Y! goes a long way towards replacing that loss. 'Lang may its lum reek!' as they say in Scotland!

I find the type of answers i give are entirely dependent on my mood, like now, im sat with my good lady wife and four of our five cats are flaked out all around us and were watching big cat week on DVD, hence im in a good mood so im going to be pleasant and helpfull wherever i can. On the other hand if im messing on answers after a stressfull day at work dealing with a whole host of idiots then thats when i rack up the violation notices :)
Main thing when im down is to remember that i have a comfortable lifestyle, a fabulous partner whom i love more than life itself, a good career - and five cats! there are so many people in the world who have a daily struggle just to stay alive that i really cant complain.

I do too. And not just that, I feel great whenever I get the best answer. I feel awesome. Honestly, I'm only here for ego. I like my answers to be praised. But atleast I still help those people who needs to have advice.

I think so. Getting answers from others who we don't know provides us with an unbiased opinion to our issues. And sometimes answering other people's questions when you're feeling down makes you feel like you are not the only one...which helps too.

I sometimes find just reading the questions or answers enough to lift my spirits and I hope others get as much pleasure from this type of site! Judging by how many of us there are and the age range I'd say we all do!

I would like to think that maybe some of the lessons I have learned so far in life could possibly help others with their current problems and help make their lives just a little bit less complicated...anytime I feel like I can be useful makes me feel like my existence has some validation to it...

Most definitely I feel that.. Makes me take my mind off my own problems. I feel as if i am needed to make a difference in someone's life. Makes me use my head instead of a hat rack.
