It depends on how much you are trying to download onto your ipod. If it's just a couple of songs or a playlist, then yes that is too long. but if you are downloading your whole library and it is of substancial size then it is probably OK. Another thing to look at is if your iPod is actually still downloading. It will flash the red circle until you eject it. Don't take your iPod out unless you press the eject button next to it in iTunes, or you can go to My computer, right click on the icon, and click eject. If you just unplug it, you could screw up the programming on it.

the first download should take minutes. it may take a wee while longer, as the ipod charges off the pc when it is connected. you have to 'eject' your ipod when you are done downloading and charging to it. u do this in the same way as u wld disconnect a usb memory stick. if using mac, drag the ipod icon over the trash can, and drop. then remove the wires.

If its finished downloading your songs, then it might appear that its ok to disconnect. Maybe its just charging. If its finished charging and downloading the songs then you might as well disconnect it. Thats what I always do.

Just disconnect it. But only if on your computer it says that the movie is finished downloading or is OK to do so.

Do so quickly.
