sony bravia and lg difficulties. is it an error in the system?

ok i am going mad....
have a new sony bravia kdl/4652030 and a new lg dvd recorder rh7800/rh7500 anyway the tv has didi (freeview) channels incorporated and works perfectly... when i tune in the dvd recorder it only picks up the anologue channels? what do i need to do. im soooooo confused. i would appreciate your help.

It is very simple

Your TV has both an analog and a DIGITAL TV tuner.
The DVD recorder has only an analog TV tuner.
If your TV has video out ports, connect those to the video input of your DVD recorder
