A good whoopin'?

my older daughter, 14 but acting 5, recently learned that she wasn't and it's really done wonders for her. She is so much more polite and calm now, and was quite embarrassed to receive it. She had received numerous warnings, acknowledged she had her chance and blew it, and apologized to us after I did it.

Well by that age I go for embarrassment or grounding( real grounding not stay in your room with tv/stereo/internet/phone)

I'd say the cut off is 16 for the whoopin. Really though each kid responds differently so you have to figure out what works best. It's not the same for every child.

I got a couple of these "whoopins" not too long ago and they did me no good at all. I am 15. Stop she's too old.

Rock on...some kids need to get a good whoopin ever now and then. It straightens their butts out!

I think thats the whole problem. Kids need a good @ss whooping when they act up. Too many bleeding hearts say no. But yet how do they deal with these out of control kids. Curb the bad behaviour before jail does. Spanking is one thing I do not believe in beating them.

It's a difference of opinions. Alot of people are against anytype of spanking but I think if it is at a low level (doesn't mark the child) then it isn't bad. Obviously if she is showing you the respect now that she wasn't before it was a great thing to do.

well the kid needs disaplin just tell her to grow up when ever she does that tell her she cant go out and if she has a boyfriend then tell her she cant see him until her attitude changes and no phone or tv or anything she likes to do for fun that she normaly does. Good luck!

well...id say if it really has gotten that bad then go ahead. just dont make her take her pants down. a teenage girl is as self consious as it is, that would make it worse.
however, make sure not to hit her anywhere where it might actually hurt her (small of the back=pregnancy problems later on in life)
and make sure that in the end she respects you instead of being afraid of you.

it should probably stop by the time they are between the ages of 12 & 14. sometimes it really depends on the child, and what the child did.
