We all get put down, made fun of, and criticized. Do
some really think they can find thier self-respect by
doing the same to others?

Yes, and bullies are not born, they are created by their bullies! Sad isn't it!?

And I think that HATE is a destructive emotion that can turn in on the hater.

I think when someone makes a value judgement about a person(putting them down) they do it to make themselves feel better by somehow feeling superior. They are spiritually sick and the only way a person can change is by asking Gods help. The best thing you can do for your enemy is pray for him. Jesus said this.

It's one of the defense mechanisms (as defined by Freud) at work; projection. That is, something about yourself that you can't accept, acknowledge or ignore so you project it on to someone else. But it's there, but it can't be you, so it must be someone else. Yes, that's it - it's THEM.

For example, you're there with a classmate. There's a sexual excitement present but it can't be coming from you; you're not that way. So it must be something you're picking up on from your mate. GET 'IM!

Yes, of course I know that! They were and are called bullies aren't they? They are also cowards. It's just the other side of the coin. Confront one, with serious intent ,and he/she will crumble. It's just the way things are so live with it.

You hit the nail on the head in my opinion.

I came to the same conclusion a couple of years ago - listening to someone harping on, again, about someone else, I asked myself who is she to critisize anyone else? It's like self destruction. This has made me change my opinion on critisism and I turn a blind eye to it, its their problem not mine - I feel sorry for them.
