im wondering if it is punishable by law to play something different than everyone else in the store, 'cause everyone was staring at me like im an idiot and like im pissing them off. Theyve obviously never heard any Daron Malakian or Frank Zappa or Led Zep.

First of all, the amp i was playing on was set just as high as everyone elses amp.

second of all, i was playing great sounding music while everyone was playing ******* slipknot style.

There is nothing wrong with playing music that you enjoy. If other people don't like it, **** them. They don't have to listen.

I think you're reading more into it than what was there. The only time I've seen people in a music store get upset is when someone is playing very badly or very loudly or a combination of the two. Of course, you weren't doing that, were you?

People dont like the sound of upper frets. btw u shouldnt compare urself to those musicians u listed cause u probably r nothing compared to them.
