There were 3 large dogs in the condo that I am buying...and now that I'm in there, I realize that it reaks! The deck outside stinks...the inside stinks...I am pulling up all of the old carpet and painting...any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated!

We had a similar problem in our house. Your first step is to sponge down the walls and apply two coats of paint. But the floors will be a challenge. You'll have to get rid of any old carpeting. While the old carpet is up, replace any underflooring that's stained. Then vacuum the subfloor and wash it in vinegar and water. When it dries, give it a coat of shellac or varnish. After that, all you can do is give it time.

Don't forget the pad too under the carpet. Go get some KILZ sealant and paint the floor with it. This will eliminate the odor coming from the wood if they urinated all the way through.
Also for whatever reason dogs tend to pee around vents. You may need to clean them as well.
One great way to freshen up your home is to spray some essential oil of your choice on your furnace filter. Instant refreshment of your entire home by turning the fan on for just a few minutes. Works every time!

I feel for you !!! When I purchased my condo five years ago I had the same problem. when I removed the carpeting, padding I realized that the sub floor was covered in old dog pee stains and wreaked ! I tore out the sub floor in the living room and hallway. In the bedroom I only had one huge stain but I was cash poor. I just cleaned it with bleach and water and had the new hardwoods installed over the stain .... I can still smell a faint dog pee odor in my bedroom. Please call around to a commercial heavy duty cleaning company and ask their advise. I have heard enzyme cleaners work or possibly you could have the stains sealed good luck !

I had the same problem when I purchased my house. I used some industrial strength cleaner and washed all of the walls (sorry, I can't remember the name of the chemical I used). I also used a rug doctor on the carpets, and a lot of "Febreeze" and also that powder that you sprinkle on the floors prior to vacuuming. Also, make sure you change the furnace filter.

well, by you taking the carpet out and painting should help alot. put some pure vanilla extract in some open containers, leave them around for a few days. vanilla is a natural odor absorber.
good luck, hope this helps
p.s.
as far as the deck, scrub it down with bleach, then put some wood sealer on it

Blast the inside of the house with a Ozone blaster. It will knock out any pet smell from the house.
Ozone blasters are what cleaning companys use. If you go online and seach ozone blasters you will find a load to choose from.
