Yes, all gold fish eat there babies or eggs. what you do is when they hatch, even though not all the eggs will survive when there layed, take one of those baster thingyies for cooking and suck them up and squeeze the water out into anather tank with the baby gold fish in it, or what you could do is but the mother and the father in a seperate smaller tank and when she lays the eggs ,and the father fertalizes it, remove both of them and put them in the original tank agian. makes sure the water circulates in the small tank with eggs there in with air, and make sure the water is fairly warm. dont make it to warm or u might cook the eggs....
Experience from keeping goldfish and other fish..
Yes, my goldfish have eaten their babies. The best way to prevent any fish from eating their young is to have plenty of plant life in the water for the babies to hide in until they are a little bigger and can outswim the older fish, or remove them when born and place in a little nursery thingee that can be bought at a fish store. Or kept in a separate bown until a little larger. It isn't a predominant problem with goldfish, but best not to take the chance, as I did.

There is a breeding net, cage you can buy and hang on your tank to protect the babies. You just have to gather them up and put them in there. Till they are big enough to survive on their own. Before they are born, put the mom in there first and remove her when the little ones arrive. They don't need her. You just feed them ground up flakes separately from the others....In their cage.

Their mother will eat the baby. What you can do is buy a seperate tank and keep them seperate after they're born.
